You wouldn’t make it past the breaking point if you had to, But things are changing, and it’s happening to you, and you, and you.
Your life is shaken, still don’t know what it’s gonna take to
Come in out of the rain, come in out of the rain
Come in out of the rain and get dry

I could have told you, they had sold you out without regret.
You’re just a number, someone going under, easy to forget.
I know you’re haunted, and all you really want is to
Come in out of the rain, come in out of the rain Come in out of the rain and get dry

Across the waters sons and daughters, some lost, some still to be found.
It’s gotta be a hard rain when your only choice is to swim, or go down.
And still behind you, many thousands still trying to
Come in out of the rain, come in out of the rain
Come in out of the rain and get dry, get dry,
Come on in out of the rain.

Pass It On 04:01
It could happen to me it could happen to Anybody on the street ‘Little love comes your way when you least expect it And you sorely need it From a stranger having a better day. Can’t beat kindness one to one Store it up and pass it on, Don’t look down, keep looking up All around you flesh and blood. When a stranger helps you Then you know how it feels Like something inside you didn’t know was broken Suddenly it heals. Yeah, we all have an instinct Stronger than fear Go out on a limb to help somebody Any fear disappears, oh yeah. Can’t beat kindness one to one Store it up and pass it on, Don’t look down, keep looking up All around you flesh and blood. A little love comes your way, pass it on, pass it on...

No Joke 02:57
As I walk along, I can’t help wondering if the sky will always be there, I know you think I joke, but who is to say what is truth and what is science fiction? Feel a spill coming through, burning up the ground, There ain’t no going back, whoever leaves that town. All undone by a creature that is not a creature, we have no name - it’s true, We sign no lease and we can do just what we please, call it in-ex-or-able. Some asteroid that happens by could make the earth a moon, In cosmic law there is no love, nor is there any ruin. One time in a dream, I called the folks at MIT, they solved it easy: Focused a beam of how precious millions believed the world to be, and negated harm of all kinds. Oh but there’s not a thing that you can do, except recycle, maybe Ride yourself a bicycle, but just don’t cry, now, don’t cry baby Cause no matter how far we stray, we’re all stardust, anyway And some-day that we can’t see, we’ll all be diamonds In another galaxy… no joke.

’I’m the one beating on your window I’m the one pulling down your wires I’m the one you never quite know But you know enough now to fear like Fire Get below, get inside, find somewhere that you can hide You got a little time to put your mind to it Cause I’m gonna make you wait, pick up a little freight Hey hey, before I blow you away’ That’s what she said when the rain came down That’s what she said when it washed away half the town, ‘Looks like I gained a little ground again.’ That’s what she said when the sea rushed in Right through the streets in a tailspin ‘Here’s a hand that you know you can’t win,’ She said…. ‘I’m the one rising at your back porch I’m the one flattening the coast I’m here and gone in a day, in an hour But sometimes the briefest flings can tear you up the most ‘When I reach the second floor you’ll realize no door’s Gonna to keep me out no more, no, but I’m gonna make you wonder: is it just a little thunder Or are you going under?’ She said when the rain came down That’s what she said when it washed away the town, ‘Looks like I gained a little ground again.’ That’s what she said when the sea rushed in Right through the streets in a tailspin, ‘Here’s a hand that you can’t win, oh no’ She said….

So Much More 03:27
Bum ba dee dah, what you say couldn’t be If we include the truth in our summary of what’s going on. The pace that we know is bringin’ it down to the bone, don’t you Wind up alone without anyone else to reach for. Such a waste always thinking life is a test, I know we’re going to find ourselves somewhere laughing, yeah The day we realize there’s no one-way-to-be, and faith is just Love, and it’s more than you know. Mmm, carry me, tell me lies enough to keep Me afloat in the cream of oblivion, I know The day’s gonna come I better up and look around, Will it be in time, or will I just get knocked down by the last thing coming? Such a waste always thinking things mean anything, I know we’re going to find ourselves in a break through, yeah, where we Give away the rest and hang on to the best Oh, cause it’s more than you know. Now you find yourself dreamin’ again, Just when you thought you had gotten over All the idealism of your youth, well dream, baby dream, Oh, cause it’s more… it’s so much more than you will ever, ever, ever know.

Well once again it’s near midnight and there’s no trace of you I don’t have to guess why, no, it’s nothing new. You show your face when you feel some disgrace, n’ take me in your arms so tenderly Ask forgiveness with a kiss that’ll surely make me Wanna hold on, hold on, I’m gonna hold, hold, hold on. Used to be I was the one running ‘round all night Chasing the mysteries and having fun and feeling all right. You were so kind, didn’t seem to mind, kept to one thing or another… You made it seem so simple then, but oh, brother How did you hold… hold on, how did you hold, hold, hold on? I was never unfaithful, but oh yeah, I was untrue. Now it’s no wonder darlin’ why you’re doing the things you do. Yeah, I guess you learned a thing or two or three ‘bout How to get out and wander, How to come home to sweet mercy And duck all the lightning and the thunder. I don’t regret all those nights on the loose And I don’t think you should, either. It’ll be so fine when we can share our minds And our journeys undercover. Yeah, I can hold… hold on, I’m gonna hold on Yeah I can hold… on, I can hold on.

Sonic Bloom 03:29
I find I’m encouraged when I look upon the flourish of your Smile is it just me, or your thoughts where I can see them? In return, from my lips to you, this sweet mellow sonic Boom blooming on the airwaves. It’s no wonder I’m dreaming, when I ain’t got nothing better to Do than what I should be doing all the day. Tonight I’m swinging on a silver chord rappelling Into the music in my Heart thinking of you here! Come back, come back soon, explain to me without words All these things that I know you want to say. I need me some dreaming to get past this feeling There’s too much going wrong out there to dream.

I‘m gonna go out dancing tonight, I wanna feel it I wanna feel how good it can be All up and down, outside and inside Swim on my feet all night Will there be somebody I wanna show How it makes me feel to be on that dance floor? Who knows, that’s the best part, What it’s all for, oh yeah I’ll see you there, I’ll see you there on the dance floor I’ll call your name with a smile and a sway, and you will hear it Like you never heard it before, just wanna get out on that floor When I see you again, I can’t wait to see you Make me laugh, show me how, if I’ve forgotten Doesn’t take much, just a gentle touch Mingle with me baby, single out this single lady Honey, when you are moving it’s the sweetest sight How much I love it when we are grooving, lover’s delight Dancing with you inspires happy feelings It’s all true, how it’s so healing I’ll see you there, I’ll see you there on the dance floor I’ll call your name with a smile and a sway, and you will hear it Like you never heard it before, just wanna get back on that floor Stepping and sliding, oh we’ll be gliding right into the day, yeah. I divine in the dark we will shine like sunrays. Nothing finer, nothing finer.

Every time you think you can fly you find yourself right back down on the ground Courtesy of somebody waiting just to shoot you down Breaks my heart over and over again yet still now I’ve got the hope that you will overcome the odds somehow Roll, roll, roll the stone roll that baby out of the way Roll, roll, roll the stone and bring on in the light of day It’s all right to speak your mind, well at least sometimes But right now, you see your demands are secondary to the crisis at hand It’s not your fault your end is short, but keep the change you want in view You still got it better than the somebody standing right behind you Roll, roll, roll the stone roll that baby out of the way Roll, roll, roll the stone and open up another way It should be stated you’re not isolated lots of people trying to get the will to move Whether out of a bad or into a good groove they say The best way to do it is keep your mind to it, yeah make it your own And just remember, you don’t have to do it alone, oh no Roll, roll, roll the stone roll that baby out of the way Roll, roll, roll the stone and bring on in the light of day Roll the stone away, roll the stone away, roll it away.

about

"Margaret McDuffie has a seemingly casual, off-hand way... her mellow voice belies the sharp edges underneath her winding, almost conversational, melodies. Her music may come from another time, but her lyrics speak plainly to today. So sit back and relax and enjoy the grooves. But you may feel a rush of bracing air blowing through your opened mind." - Jake Holmes
